AVN Awards Make HBO's Six Feet Under Cut

The AVN Awards were mentioned June 20 in the opening scene of HBO's hit series, Six Feet Under.

In the scene, from the episode "In Case of Rapture," two young slackers are filling blowup dolls with helium. "I don't understand why you want these full of fuckin' helium," says one. "For the AVN Awards, man. It's like the fuckin' Oscars of porn, and they want them floating from the rafters."

The duo proceeds to horse around with the dolls, sucking helium into their mouths and saying things like, "Fuck me! I have several fuckable orifices," as they ram the dolls into each other.

Later, after being loaded into the back of a pickup truck, the dolls escape and float into the sky. A religious woman mistakes them for angels and is hit by a car when she runs into the street to get a better look. Her body is the first to turn up in the Fisher family funeral home.

Six Feet Under takes a darkly comical look at members of the Fisher family, a dysfunctional clan that operate a funeral home in Los Angeles. The show is in its fourth season and has racked up several SAG, GLAAD, Grammy, Peabody, and Golden Globe awards. Check your local HBO listing for reruns this week.
