ASACP Sees Major Rise In Reports of Suspected Child Porn

Adult Sites Against Child Pornography received over 5,000 reports of suspected child porn in March, up by 1,000 from previous months and yielding over 350 sites reported to authorities

“This is the largest increase in new suspect child pornography companies and Websites with new content that I have seen in over six years," said ASACP site reviewer Tim Henning, announcing the figures. "It is too early to say if this is a trend toward an even larger proliferation of child pornography on the Internet than was previously reported over the past several years, or just a statistical blip. The next few months will give us a clearer picture as to what could turn out to be a frightening trend.”

“We hope that the information that [we] provide the FBI and NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) will help them apprehend these horrific criminals,” said ASACP executive director Joan Irvine.

The group is also continuing its battle involving legal adult Internet affiliate programs being used unwittingly to bill for child porn sites. "[It] continues to be a recurring problem and (it) increased in the last month," the group said.
