ANME Anticipates Brisk Business

The leading toy and novelty companies in adult entertainment will converge on the Sheraton Universal Hotel for the ninth annual Adult Novelties Manufacturers Expo this Monday through Wednesday.

The 2004 event will be the largest in the show's history as over 90 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products and networking with new clients.

Geoff Aran, president of Kammo Productions which produces the Expo, told AVN the configuration of this year's show will be slightly different than last year. Instead of housing some exhibitors in a tent, ANME will be using the rooftop garden of the hotel for additional booths. There will also be exhibitors located in terrace suites alongside the pool like they were two years ago.

"We're spread out pretty much everywhere we can possibly be in the hotel," Aran said. "We're completely sold out of space."

The show has steadily grown by about 10 percent each year. Aran says the robust toy and novelty business is about to outgrow the Sheraton Universal Hotel.

"We're definitely out of space," he said.

Industry buyers from at least 12 different countries are expected to make the trip to Universal City for three days of business that follow a big event weekend for the Free Speech Coalition. There will be invitation-only dinner party on Tuesday evening for ANME exhibitors.

"There's a lot of buzz. (The Free Speech Coalition's) Night of the Stars is at the hotel the night before we set up so that will bring a lot of people in," Aran said.

All of the traditional industry players will return this year including California Exotic Novelties, Topco Sales, Doc Johnson and Pipedream. Some of the first-time exhibitors this year include Applied Organics, Come Inc., Sands of Time, Lovin Mood, Lucom USA, Ozze Creations, Natural Contours and Access International Media.

ANME hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. July 26-27 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 28.
