AMERICAN E-PORN OWNER EXPELLED FROM CAMBODIA

Two weeks after Dan Sandler was arrested following a government minister's complaint, the American e-porn Web site owner was deported from Cambodia.

Sandler was arrested in late October after Minister of Women's Affairs Mu Sochua called on authorities to prosecute him for violating Cambodian law on obscenity and exploiting women.

Sandler had argued he used photographs of ethnic Vietnamese women rather than Cambodian women for his site. He could have faced up to five years in prison if convicted under Cambodian law.

American Embassy officials escorted Sandler to the Phnom Penh airport.

Ordinarily, the Internet operates unfettered in the Cambodian capital, but Mu Sochua complained, she said, after talking to groups of women and attorneys who professed outrage over Sandler's Web site.
