AIM Offers 'Porn 101' Online

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. - Ten years ago this month saw the formation of Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation (AIM), the universally employed clinic that helps regulate and look after the physical and mental well-being of adult performers.

One of the standard points of protocol at AIM when new performers pay their first visit is a video called 'Porn 101' that offers a crash course on the business. AIM has now placed 'Porn 101' on its website for new talent to access at their convenience.

"A lot of times the agents will take it away from the talent, so the talent doesn't get to see it," AIM founder Dr. Sharon Mitchell told AVN. "I found by putting it online, it's accessible to everyone that needs to see it, and also the general public really appreciates it. We've had a tremendous amount of success from it, and we're releasing a version for the general public to be put up on SxCheck [the public counterpart to AIM]. We shot it last week, and it'll be up next week on the SxCheck website."

Porn 101 — which now has a second segment to it, Porn 102 — relays all the need-to-know facts about sexual diseases and the sex industry for anybody considering a career in copulating on camera to weigh.

"Porn 101 is now the health issues — HIV, Chlamydia, gonorrhea, what to do when you have your period, make sure you don't use makeup sponges, so on and so forth; that's with Dr. Patric [Hernandez-Kline] and myself," Mitchell said. "And Porn 102 is the psych/social issues, with Nina Harley, myself, Anastasia Pierce and Brooke Hunter, going through: How do you get paid? When do you get paid? Am I right for this business? How do you know when you've had enough in this business? How to make a plan to get in and out of this business. Those types of things. What do you do in a relationship? How are your children affected when you're in this business? I update it every year."

Mitchell also pointed out that AIM is now affiliated with the Los Angeles AIDS Walk, and invited people interested in participating in the Walk to sign up either on the AIM website or at either office.

"This is the first year that we've actually been able to participate in it, and AIM gets proceeds from it," Mitchell said. "I think it's 'cause we've been around for 10 years, so I think they realized we're not going anywhere!"
