Dr. Sharon Mitchell, Ph.D., executive director of AIM Health Care Foundation, told AVN.com that the organization will be trying to spread some Holiday cheer by organizing a fundraiser for AVN Hall of Famer Eric Edwards. Mitchell told AVN.com that Edwards has come under some hard times, and is surviving two types of cancer, lung surgery and chemotherapy treatments. As Mitchell explained, “[Eric] is scraping by in a cabin with his two sons. He barely has enough money to exist, let alone have any kind of Christmas for his boys.”
“I’m basically making this plea, for someone who I know made many people happy as an actor, director, editor, cinematographer, father and friend,” said Mitchell. Eric needs our help.”
AIM has put up the first $300 dollars, and are asking for people to dig a little deeper during this Holiday time. “When push comes to shove, we are all only a pocket full away from the streets, so be grateful for what you have and find it in your heart to share a wee bit of it,” continued Mitchell. “It will give you that Holiday glow and get you through the season with a smile.”
AIM Health Care will be accepting donations in Eric's name and give donators a tax write-off for the kind gesture.
“So, come on down, and squeeze out a few bucks,” said Mitchell. “You never know what the future will bring, so be kind to others as you would heed kindness.”
Edwards appeared in several mainstream commercials before entering the adult industry in the 1960’s. At the time, he was represented by the William Morris Agency.
Edwards, who has performer in around 1,000 adult titles, is credited by Wikipedia as the only person to have performed sex on film in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
