AIDS BOY'S GRANDMA COULD FACE CHARGES

The New York Post says the grandmother of a 12-year-old boy who has admitted trying to spread the AIDS virus by way of sexual attacks on other children may face endangerment charges in the bizarre case.

The paper says police sources believe the woman knew what her grandson was up to but did nothing to stop it. They live in Coney Island. The woman is refusing to comment on the case so far, the Post says, but authorities are questioning her because she babysits other children and they want to know if the boy had attacked any of them.

The boy was born with the disease, contracting it from his now-deceased mother. He reportedly told police upon his arrest that he wanted others to have the AIDS virus as well. He's accused of sexually assaulting five children, the mother of one of whom tipped off police.

But the Post says his attorney, Brian Zimmerman of Legal Aid, will argue the boy's confession won't fly because he didn't understand the questions from police detectives.
