LAS VEGAS—There is no denying that the possibility of seeing porn stars is what draws most people to the show floor for the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo each year, but there is plenty more to do and see.
Rock band performances on the Fyre TV stage kept attendees entertained as they waited in line for that autograph or picture. Professional dominatrixes were on hand to keep rowdy fans in line with a good spanking. In the mood to freshen up your boudoir? Sheet sets at low prices were on sale on the floor.
But even major manufacturers and distributors of pleasure products were on the main show floor to show the people what they might be missing out on. A big hit were the Cello, the Wave, and the Amore Rocker and Amore ottoman from Liberator. The pieces, which are designed to assist couples achieve more variety and comfort on various sexual positions, are also able to function as furniture for use in any room.
Gregory Clark, who designed the pieces, noted that each piece has unique assets: The ottoman has a cushion that lifts to reveal a secret storage compartment that can be locked, the Rocker has a stop that prevents it from tipping over when reclined, the Wave is perfect to use as a position chair at a desk or computer and the Cello has a wood base, removable cushions and a pillow that Velcros through a decorative metal rail along both sides. The rails also have hooks attached so couples can restrasin each other to the piece if desired. “We have done studies and created the pieces so they are the right height for the average person,” Clark said, noting that helps couples attain more positions with less stress on their bodies.
Toyfriend US was also on hand, revealing the latest range of fun and colorful vibrators from Tickler. The vibes, designed by Eric Kalen, have bright colors, including blue and yellow, and unique shapes to stimulate different body parts in a number of ways.
“We like to say our vibrators are designed for indoor and outdoor use, as well as backdoor use,” Kalen quipped. The new line, named the Rocket Vibes, will be available in February.
Peter Brett of BeaMonstar said his company was employing a text campaign to draw visitors to the company’s booth for free samples of their newest products, including the No Hangover Shot and the Morning After remedy. “If you drink just a little too much, the Morning After is great, but if you really indulge, then we have you covered with the No Hangover,” he said.
A first-time exhibitor was Liquid Nymph, which showed off one-of-a-kind handmade collars and cuffs. The pieces differentiate themselves by using everything from fabric to lace to feathers as ornamentation.
“I started the business when I was 18, because I needed a posture collar since my own posture was so bad,” explained Kristy, the designer of the pieces. “I was pretty goth back then, so I created my own piece, and from there it just took off.” Each of the collars and cuffs is made from real leather, and crafted by Kristy herself.
Other pleasure product companies at AEE include Miss Chivas, which carries a fully functional lint brush, the handle of which doubles as a discreet storage case for most vibrators; Lickwid Lube, which sells 23 different flavors of lubricant; and Adult Beer Coolers.
The AVN Adult Entertainment Expo continues through Sunday at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.
