AEBN Chief Coffman to Speak at NextMedia Conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Scott Coffman, the president and founder of AEBN, a world leader in adult video-on-demand and consistently among the most visited websites on the Internet, will speak at the NextMedia conference during World Television Festival in Banff, Alberta, Canada June 13 to 16.

Coffman will address the conference, which brings together much of the top executive and creative talent in television and digital media, about AEBN’s innovation and development of leading edge experiential entertainment.

“Piracy of content can never be totally eliminated,” Coffman said, “so we’ve moved toward integrating that content into an experience that makes it irrelevant.”

He will appear on a panel led by Vivid Entertainment founder and co-chairman Steven Hirsch that will discuss the adult industry’s success at monetizing digital and emerging media platforms. Also on the panel is Darren Roberts, CEO of the AVN Media Network.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Coffman is the driving force behind RealTouch, the groundbreaking haptic technology personal pleasure device for men that is pushing the evolution of experiential entertainment that goes beyond 3D. Integrating the dimension of touch to that of conventional video-on-demand (VOD) sight and sound RealTouch creates a uniquely immersive experience for mind and body.

Innovation has always been the hallmark of AEBN. Coffman recognized that staying on top of emerging technology would be the key to success in business if not survival altogether. He was one of the first to see the potential of streaming video technology and realized it could be the solution to both shipping and inventory problems for delivering content to consumers.

Coffman understood that a better business model had to be created as well. Seeking to eliminate risk on content that may or may not sell he borrowed a strategy from then movie-rental king Blockbuster and proposed sharing revenue with producers. Given the nature of the content, he also developed into his business model the unprecedented ability to charge viewers by the minute rather than by the movie and championed the nascent concept of affiliate marketing which built AEBN’s global reach.

Never one to rest, Coffman is now forging ahead with what he sees as the next major step in technology, experiential entertainment. With the first leading-edge haptic technology product geared towards men, next generation products are being developed for women and couples. Therapeutic and medical applications are also under development. Coffman believes experiential entertainment such as the patent protected haptic technology of RealTouch and the evolution of other aspects like 3D is the future for both adult and mainstream.
