ADULTVIDEONEWS APRIL 2005 - INNERVIEWS - Salome: The Whore Formerly Known as Kami Andrews Goes Extreme

Salome, until recently known as Kami Andrews and still known as that on her quirky Website kamiland.com, is contracted with Extreme Associates and will star in their upcoming feature, Texas Asshole Massacre. In the biz a little more than a year, she was nominated with Brandon Iron for Best Anal Sex Scene – Video for her ravaging in Mason/Platinum X's Riot Sluts. Give her a minute and she'll recite the Biblical story behind her name and tell you whose asshole is falling out from too much anal.

AVN: Does the name Salome work for you?

Salome: I think it's a name with a lot of character. I think it's something interesting and different, and there's not gonna be a lot of Salomes.

AVN: What about that story?

Salome: I grew up as a Southern Baptist. I love bible stories, especially ones where people get beheaded and stepdaughters dance for their daddies.

AVN: Nice and sick.

Salome: Nothing like incest and murder to make for a good childhood story.

AVN: Where are you from?

Salome: Florida. I moved to Pittsburgh when I was 18. I do three weeks in Pittsburgh, two weeks in L.A.I think that if I lived here, I would have been done six months ago because I would have been working as often as I could, and my asshole would have fallen out, or I would have gotten burned out on the people.

AVN: Normal childhood?

Salome: I think I probably had an average American childhood. I wouldn't say it was storybook, but it wasn't bad.

AVN: If you could have any other career, what would it be?

Salome: There's nothing like this in the whole world. I can't imagine anything that would be as good as having really, really good sex and having money at the end of it. It's Christmas every day. There's no career that would be better than this.

AVN: How did you find this fine business?

Salome: I started out as a bondage model. I started just pushing it a little bit more and a little bit more. I came out to L.A., I did my first scene, and I was addicted.

AVN: What was your day job?

Salome: I was a retail manager for (clothing retailer) American Eagle.

AVN: How do you go from that to bondage?

Salome: I was in a very unsatisfying relationship. I used to surf porn on the Internet, and I had all these kinky thoughts in my head. When we broke up, I snapped.

AVN: What do you mean unsatisfying?

Salome: Physically, it was very unsatisfying.

AVN: Sometimes you can't bring things up with certain people.

Salome: Or their reaction is so damaging, like, "Oh my god, you're such a whore." I take that as a compliment now, but back then, that sucked. Ow. That's gonna leave a mark. Right on the soul.

AVN: I like where you point to your soul; it's right behind the rib cage.

Salome: Exactly. That's where I keep it.

AVN: Riot Sluts. You got nommed for that scene with Brandon.

Salome: My career high was getting nominated for the Best Anal for that. That was one of those things that I fantasized about before I ever came into porn that I never thought would happen. She let me have control.

AVN: You love what you do.

Salome: I wouldn't do it if I didn't. The thing in this business that makes me the most angry is people who complain. You don't get fucked like this in the real world. I never had sex like this in the real world, ever. You don't have any accountability, any responsibility, and you get a big pile of money, and then people ask for your autograph. And then people complain? Go work at Wal-Mart! It sucks! Spend Christmas at the mall, and then come back and talk to me.

AVN: How did the Extreme gig happen?

Salome: It happened with Oral Hygiene 4. I had a lot of reservations because when my mom found out I was doing porno, she goes, "Oh honey, don't work for that Rob Black." What my mother knows about porno is Jenna Jameson and Rob Black. I thought it was gonna be really scary, but it was really fun. What Rob said to me was, "You know how to fuck. You have a really rare talent. You can't teach people that." It really meant a lot to me that he recognized that.

AVN: So Kami Andrews is gone, and Salome's here?

Salome: I'm still Kami, but I'm becoming Salome. Not many people get the opportunity to create a whole new persona and then just let go of all their mistakes and start clean. It's nice.
