ADULT STOCKS BATHE THANKS TO FLOYD

With traders reported leaving work early to beat the potential effects of Hurricane Floyd Thursday, Wall Street took an overall bath - and publicly-traded adult entertainment stocks went likewise, for the most part.

Playboy Enterprises and On Command Corp. took the big hits among the publicly-traded adult stocks, with On Command dropping 9/16 to $17 5/8, and Playboy going down 7/16 to $22 ½.

Metro Global Media was the only adult stock to go unchanged, staying at $1 ¾. LodgeNet Entertainment, a provider of adult film and video for the hotel industry, fell a quarter to $13 ¼, while New Frontier Media lost a sixteenth of a point to close at $6. ½.

Floyd was downgraded to a tropical storm Thursday, but Wall Street still got soaked, with the Dow Jones industrial average losing 64 points and the high-tech NASDAQ composite dropping 58 points at one point before a rally back to small positive territory. The Dow industrials finished at 10,737.46.

Internet stocks also got wet in Thursday's trading. Yahoo! gained (1 1/16) but America Online (-1 5/16), Lycos (-3/4), Infoseek (-1) and eBay (- ¼) fell.
