ADULT NET SITE PROMOTED "ROMANCE"

A popular adult Web site is partnering with a leading film distributor to promote a controversial French art film, the distributor has announced.

Danni's Hard Drive (www.danni.com) has teamed up with Trimark Pictures to promote Romance, with DHD agreeing to show an exclusive, unedited trailer for the film - the first marriage of an adult Web site and a film company to promote a mainstream release, says Business Wire.

"(This is) a unique opportunity to present our marketing message to our target adult audience," says Trimark's senior vice president of theatrical marketing, Dennis O'Connor, "on a mature level, without any creative compromise or censor."

DHD began showing the trailer Wednesday. The film stars Rocco Siffredi, a major adult star whose own video series is one of the top sellers from Evil Angel.

"Romance is an amazing, frank view of one woman's sexual journey," says DHD creator-star, Danni Ashe. "(We're) proud to offer Trimark an alternative way to reach its audience for this provocative, groundbreaking film."

Newsweek has called the film "the most sexually audacious movie since Last Tango in Paris."

Romance is due for release in New York on 17 September and in Los Angeles on 1 October. Its explicit content, almost unseen in a major mainstream film, has caused a sensation in Europe and won high praise from critics at Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Gear.

The DHD trailer could mean even more interest in the film, since the adult Web site takes an estimated eight million hits per day from Internet surfers.
