ABERCROMBIE, FITCH, & JENNA - THE SEQUEL

Santa might know who's naughty or nice, or both, but Michigan's attorney general isn't making the distinction regarding Abercrombie & Fitch's "Naughty or Nice" catalog - Attorney General Jennifer Granholm has ordered the catalogers to stop selling "Naughty or Nice," which features adult film star Jenna Jameson among others, to minors, because of descriptions of sexual material.

``It's fine to push the envelope for adults or for college students over 18, but not when a large part of your market are 10- to 18-year-olds,'' Granholm said in a letter to Abercrombie & Fitch which was obtained by the Associated Press. ``This is off the charts. This is unacceptable.''

The catalog cover shows a shirtless young man with his jeans unbuttoned and, inside, features photographs of sometimes-naked models - not to mention an interview with Jameson, who offered some tips on making love to a woman.

Abercrombie & Fitch spokesman Hampton Carney tells the AP the catalog is meant for college students. ``It's never been intended for anyone under 18,'' he says. ``We're very sensitive to that matter.''

But Granholm says her office sent three children to an Abercrombie & Fitch store and that all three bought the six-dollar catalog without adults present. The children were between the ages of 10 and 14, she says.

Abercrombie & Fitch has ten days to answer Granholm's order or she can and, she says, will seek a court order to stop it from selling the catalog to minors.
