We've heard of lending a helping hand, but leave it to Darklady to take that idea to the next level: the Second Annual Masturbate-a-Thon, desperately seeking sponsors, with the mistressmind herself willing to promote products, services, and talent May 31 while raising money - with LightSpeedCash.com and GSWipes.com - for sex-positive charities.
The Masturbate-a-Thon grew (no pun intended) from "Masturbation Month" developed by Good Vibrations, the San Francisco sex toy and education shop, who declared Masturbation Month in May for the first time five years ago, Darklady says. They prodded people to get pledges from friends for time spent doing the hand jive at home and donated the funds to such charities as Darklady now wants to feed.
But the irrepressible writer/broadcaster/Webmistress says she wants to take it one step further - with Portland's first official hand orgy, live music, dance, and ambient music by DJ Furious Bee. Not to mention erotic photo galleries, kinky and sensual play spaces, a "masturbatory harmonic convergence," prize raffles, and more. "Your help," says Darklady, "will guarantee that it's not just a party that gets talked about all year but also helps support healthy sexuality in the world we live in."
The proceeds are marked for, among others, Planned Parenthood of the Columbia, Cascade AIDS Project, the Center for Sex & Culture, and the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.
So what do you get out of it, aside from the obvious? Says Darklady, you get a sponsor banner on the Masturbate-A-Thon Website; verbal thanks from the podium during the party; your company name and URL mention in all the promotional literature, including flyers and press releases; banner and vendor space at the event; space on the literature table for any of your company-related materials; and, "a chance to help great sex-positive causes while having a kick-ass time," she adds.
