A Minor Correction

connected both in the bodybuilding and wrestling circles, corrects my spelling in a recent story about XPW, the America One Network, ECW and a threatened lawsuit. Though I was reporting the piece as it appeared in wrestleline.com, my reader informs me that it is Steve 'Karel' not Carroll of ECW who is one of the principals involved. Writes my reader: 'There's more to this story than meets the eye. Steve Karel has a company called Stone Cutter Productions. He does p.r. work for most of your major adult industry p.r. companies. He does a lot of their publicity. He also owns part of the ECW. He also used to be big in the bodybuilding-thing. He had a lot of pro bodybuilders under contract. He used to help promote a lot of shows back east."

Gene further sez: "Just for shits and giggles, here's the original story - ECW threatens lawsuit - WrestleLine.com has learned, according to top executives in Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW), threats of lawsuits have begun from Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) to the America One Network.

ECW's Steve Carroll [Karel], Paul Heyman's right hand man, who ironically has also made his money in the adult film industry like XPW owner/CEO Rob Black, called the America One Network, and threatened to sue them if they aired XPW's television program, claiming that they own the rights to the name 'extreme,' insinuating that there can be no other extreme wrestling company.

'It is painfully apparent that for some reason ECW feels a little threatened by us,' XPW's Rob Black said in an exclusive WrestleLine.com statement, 'I don't know if it's due to the fact that we're using some of their old workers who used to work for them, or if it's because we have Shane Douglas, and Shane Douglas can do for us what he did for ECW, and that's to put our company over and carry us on his back like he did for ECW, before he left ECW.'

Black finished his statement, 'I have been in litigation for using the word 'extreme' in the adult business, and it's a tough battle. I am not a stranger to litigation.' XPW just recently struck a deal with America One less than a week ago after a successful run of house shows in Southern California. ECW has been a staple on America One for a while.' "
