2257xml.org Introduces Record Keeping Solution

WARRENDALE, Pa.—A trio of leading adult industry companies have come together to form a complete, all-inclusive solution for adult content providers and retailers to store and share 2257 documents in an organized way. AdultDVDEmpire.com, Wicked Pictures and Zero Tolerance have joined to create 2257xml.org with the purpose of streamlined record keeping.

One major inconvenience with the 2257 regulations, the companies believe, is the lack of a standard format to share documents, which makes accurate record keeping impractical and daunting.

“Retailers have struggled to find a structured way to request, gather and store all of the data required for their content, while varying formats and practices by studios and content providers have also added to the overwhelming duty of being compliant,” a 2257xml.org spokesperson said.

The establishment of 2257xml.org creates an XML standard for viewing and sharing documents. An XML file can be used across different computers and operating systems creating a unified storage format.

2257xml.org is not a third party storage solution and there is no cost for adult producers to download the document templates. The objective of keeping identification and other documents in a common format is to make it easier for secondary producers, who commonly receive such documents from a variety of primary producers, to file those documents in their databases as required by the existing 2257 regulations. Currently, secondary producers receive such documents in everything from .pdfs to Word docs to Excel files, and even some more obscure formats, which can cost secondary producers time and money attempting to internally harmonize their recordkeeping procedures.

“All adult studios and retailers are encouraged to support the standard, as the more businesses that participate in the standard the easier compliance becomes,” the spokesperson said. “Members become compliant with all of the content in the system and as new records are added, compliance is automatic.”

The company offers two formats for producers to choose from. The 100 Series is designed for producers who store individual documents for verifying each performer’s age. The 200 series is used by producers who store multi-page PDF files that compile every piece of info needed to verify a performer’s age.
