CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Every January since 1984, the critics have spoken, selecting the winners that are announced at the annual AVN Awards Show. But this year their voices are not the only ones that will be heard. In a contest sponsored by AshleyMadison.com, four honors will be given based on votes by porn fans themselves.
And three of those lucky voters will be selected to receive a pair of free tickets to the Oscars of porn—held, as it is every year, in Las Vegas.
Fans can vote online in four categories, selecting their picks for Favorite Performer, Favorite Body, Favorite Movie and Wildest Sex Scene.
The voting site is live now at AVNawards.avn.com/fan-voting. Porn fans are encouraged to go to the site between now and Dec. 19 to make their views known—and at the same time to become eligible to win a pair of free tickets to the 2011 AVN Awards Show, held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Pearl Concert Theater in the Palms Resort and Casino.
On the voting website, fans will be able to choose from dozens of top names in adult, naming them Favorite Performer or Favorite Body. In addition, fans can select one Favorite Movie from a wide-ranging list of features, parodies, comedies and all-sex productions. They can also designate the Wildest Sex Scene from an equally diverse assortment of adult releases.
After voting closes, three names will be randomly picked to each receive two free tickets to the AVN Awards Show (flight, accommodation and other expenses not included). Winners will be announced Dec. 20.
The addition of fan voting categories is not the other innovation planned for 2011. Also for the first time, pleasure product companies and their wares are being honored during the show. Many pleasure product categories have been added, and four pioneers from the business— Joani Blank of Good Vibrations, Ron Braverman of Doc Johnson, Susan Colvin of California Exotic Novelties, and Martin Tucker of Topco Sales—are being added to the Hall of Fame.
