2010 XRCO Award Winners Announced

HOLLYWOOD—The X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) held its 26th annual awards ceremony Thursday evening at The Highlands nightclub just above Hollywood's famous Kodak Theater.

As raucous and rambunctious an affair as ever, the show surprisingly got started pretty close to on schedule, with hosts Lisa Ann, Nikki Benz and a ball-capped Sean Michaels taking the stage not long after 9pm and calling up the first presenters straightaway with little opening fanfare.

Those presenters were Taylor Vixen, Andy San Dimas and Not the Cosbys XXX star Thomas Ward, in full Cliff Huxtable mode, and they got the ball rolling with the Mainstream Adult Media Favorite award, which to nobody's surprise went to Sasha Grey, who was not present to accept ... though she did show up just as the proceedings were ending, and expressed surprise herself that she had missed them.

AVN Female Performer of the Year Tori Black continued her winning streak by receiving the same honor from this group, and so too did Kagney Linn Karter with the New Starlet trophy, Dane Cross with New Stud, Kimberly Kane with Single Performance – Actress (Revolution X/Digital Sin's The Sex Files: A Dark XXX Parody) and Eric Swiss with Single Performance – Actor (X-Play/LFP Video's Not Married With Children XXX).

The biggest winner of the night, in a very-near sweep, was Jeff Mullen/Will Ryder, who took home Best Director (Features), and whose Not Married With Children XXX and Flight Attendants were awarded the Best Comedy or Parody and Best Release trophies, respectively. With each successive win, the sunglasses-sporting Mullen expressed more and more ebullient gratitude, on his last trip up exclaiming, "Are you fucking kidding me?!"

He did explain to the audience at one point that he was "not wearing sunglasses because I think I'm cool ... my eyes are bloodshot because we shot until 4 o'clock in the morning yesterday." For each acceptance speech, Mullen brought X-Play partner Scott David to the stage with him, and both emphasized that they owed the victories to the hard work of every cast and crew member involved in the projects.

Almost as thrilled over their wins were Bobbi Starr and Jenna Haze, who each gushed effusively about how incredible the honors were (Starr scored Orgasmic Oralist and Superslut, and Haze took Orgasmic Analist). After accepting her trophy, Jenna told AVN, "Now I've won every XRCO Award I wanted: I've got Orgasmic Oralist, Orgasmic Analist, Performer of the Year and Best On-Screen Chemistry." (The latter was not presented this year.)

Kristina Rose took the stage multiple times to accept awards for others—she announced that Elegant Angel Productions had asked her to collect any trophies it won "because they love me," and the company was bestowed Best Gonzo Movie for Big Wet Asses 15 and Best Ethnic Series for Big Black Wet Asses, plus contract director William H. was named Best Director (Non-Features). In addition, Kristina accepted the absent Kagney Linn Karter's New Starlet trophy, because she happens to live in the same apartment building.

Perhaps the most captivating part of the program was when founding XRCO member Jared Rutter and industry stalwart Bill Margold took turns honoring the new inductees to the XRCO Hall of Fame and paying regards to the several greats who've passed since last year's show, namely Erica Boyer, Juliet "Aunt Peg" Anderson and Jamie Gillis.

A number of the Hall of Fame inductees were on hand to accept, including Sunset Thomas, who reminisced on stage with Sean Michaels about having worked with him in 1996 Pleasure Productions release Sunset's Anal and D.P. Gangbang.

"You were one of the guys who fucked me in the ass, weren't you?" she asked Michaels. After he confirmed to her that he believed he was, she said, "I've never told you this, but I was in pain for weeks after that because that cock is so huge ... I had Peter North in my pussy and Sean Michaels in my ass."

On inductee Mike Ranger (who was not in attendance), Margold offered the memorable remarks, "As much as we like the girls in this business, a good dick is hard to find ... Mike Ranger was like the Nick Manning of his day—he could fuck cement."

Wicked Pictures' 2040, which was nearly shut out of the major categories at this year's AVN Awards show, received some high recognition here, taking Most Outrageous DVD Extras and Best Epic.

To finish off the evening, the three hosts bid a curt goodnight—albeit one that included shout-outs by Benz and Ann of their Twitter addresses, and Michaels of his website—and the crowd proceeded into the rear bar/lounge wing to get the after party started.
