LOS ANGELES - The third annual F.A.M.E. (Fans of Adult Media and Entertainment) awards show is set for Saturday, June 7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the Erotica LA expo.
“While the AVN Awards measure the voices of the critics, the fans are the end user and it's an honor for the stars and companies to be recognized for their achievements by them,” said Paul Fishbein, president of AVN Media Network. “This awards show has truly become an event that we feel all of the studios and stars of our industry look forward to year after year, and we look forward to co-producing it for them.”
The F.A.M.E. Awards is the first adult awards show where the fans take part in the entire process, from choosing the finalists to ultimately selecting the winners in over a dozen categories. Well over 100,000 votes were cast for last year’s contest, and this year’s edition is expected to surpass those numbers.
The first round of voting to determine the finalists in each category is scheduled to open March 3 on the F.A.M.E. website, www.thefameawards.com, with the final voting round slated to begin on April 21.
“We couldn’t be happier or more proud on how this show has grown in such a short amount of time,” said Dan Davis, editor-in-chief of Genesis Magazine and F.A.M.E. spokesman. “We were extremely proud of the record number of voters for last year’s show, and the event itself was a much bigger affair. We couldn’t do this without the support of the fans, stars or studios, and we hope to make this year’s show bigger and better.”
The F.A.M.E. Awards were created in 2006 by industry leaders Genesis Magazine, Adam & Eve, WantedList.com and AVN as a way for fans to honor their favorite adult film stars, directors, movies and companies.
The awards ceremony will take place on the main stage at Erotica L.A. starting at 9 p.m. Admission to the 2008 F.A.M.E. Awards is free with admission to Erotica LA; information on tickets for the convention can be found at www.erotica-la.com.
