Royal Hotel & Casino in Mandalieu
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - The nominations are in for the 2000 Hot d'Or (Hot Video magazine) awards in May, including nominations for the AVN Award for Best European Release in the United States. The ceremonies will take place May 17 at the Royal Hotel & Casino in Mandalieu, just outside Cannes.
The AVN Best European Release award is presented in Cannes as a cooperative with Hot Video, which in turn presents an award at the annual AVN Awards show in Las Vegas.
Best European Release in the United States nominees include three from Evil Angel: Euro Angels 19 (Clark Euro Angel/Evil Angel), Rocco's Initiations 2 (Rocco Siffredi/Evil Angel) and When Rocco Meets Kelly 2 (Rocco Siffredi/Evil Angel); two from Private USA: Amanda's Diary 2 and Sex Therapy; and Ben Dover's Sex Kittens From Britain (HK Video/VCA) and The Fever of Laure (Wicked).
The Hot Video nominees for Best American Movie include Ange ou Demon (James Avalon), Brut de Filles (Terrence Chase), Eros (Missy and Mickey G.), L'Esclave des sens (Toshi Gold), Lady M. (Stuart Canterbury), Matrik (Francois Clouzot), Phenix (Nic Cramer), Pin Ups (Andrew Blake), Rituals (Michael Ninn) and Sexe, violence et jalousie (Brad Armstrong).
Hot Video Best European Movie nominees are 24 heures d'amour (John B. Root), Alexia & Co (Marc Dorcel), Devil in the Flesh (Antonio Adamo), Doom Raider (J.F. Ramon), L'Emmerdeuse (Fred Coppula), L'Enfer (Mario Salieri), Harcelement au feminin (Alain Payet), La punition d'Anna (Silvio Bandinelli), Rocco nic'k sur le Net (Rocco Siffredi), Safe Sex (Pierre Woodman) and Sex Therapy (Woodman).
Among the performers, Juli (The $25,000 Girl) Ashton, Jill Kelly, Shayla LaVeaux, Missy, Stephanie Swift, Stacy Valentine and Vicca pick up Best American Actress nominations. Best American New Starlet nominees include Allysin Chaynes, Julie Meadows, Tera Patrick, Cheyenne Silver, Temptress and Inari Vachs, who's fresh from her X-Rated Critics Association Best Starlet award.
Best French Actress nominees are N'J de Bahia, Maeva Exel, Dolly Golden, Illona, Karen Lancaume and Oceane. Best French New Starlet nominees include Celine Bara, Betty Bell, Delfynn, Estelle DeSanges, Nataly Dune, Ovidie, Lina Rush and Angela Tiger.
For Best European Actress, the nominees are Nikki Anderson, Laura Angel, Dina Jewel, Kate More, Bolivia Samsonite and La Venere Bianca. For Best European New Starlet, the competitors are Wanda Curtis, Tavalia Griffin, Meridian, Alba Del Monte, Madalina Rey, Daniella Rush, Julia Taylor and Olivia de Treville.
Michael J. Cox, Mike Horner, Julian, Brick Majors, Mr. Marcus, Mickey G., Herschel Savage and Randy Spears line up as the nominees for Best American Actor, while Christoph Clark, Philippe Dean, Steve Holmes, Francesco Malcolm, Roberto Malone, David Perry, Ian Scott, Philippe Soine and John Walton compete for Best European Actor.
Betty Anderson, Elodie Cherie, Lisa Crawford, Sofie Evans, Eva Falk, Sylvia Saint and Maria Szalontai earned Best European Supporting Actress nominations. Rodolphe Antrim, Marc Barrow, Silvio Evangelista, Edd Exel, Mike Foster, Kevin Long, Alberto Ray and Leslie Taylor earned Best European Supporting Actor nominations.
The candidates for Best European Actor-Newcomer are Sebastian Barros, Karl Ben, Max Cortes, Joachim, Frank Majors, Gilles Stuart, Titof and Nacho Vidal.
Adamo, the highly regarded directorial newcomer, following a distinguished early career as a cinematographer and set designer, who's directed the first two releases in a collaboration between Private Video and Penthouse, is up for Best European New Director as well, for Devil in the Flesh. Woodman is up for a few awards, including two for Best DVD (Fatal Orchid and Indecency) and Best European Director (for Sex Therapy). Siffredi is also up for Best European Director for Rocco nic'k sur le Net.
Other Best European Director nominees include Bandinelli, Root, Coppula, Luca Damiano (Blanche-Croupe et les 7 Verges), Dorcel, Nicholas Moore (Carmen), Alain Payet (Les Tontons tringleurs), Anita Rinaldi (Superstitions) and Salieri.
Armstrong, Avalon, Blake, Canterbury, Cramer, Dorcel, Gold and Ninn are also up for Best American Director awards, as is Veronica Hart for La Pornocrate.
The Hot d'Or is held annually during the Cannes Film Festival, with parties on the Riviera to accompany the gala. AVN will have reporters on hand for on-the-scene coverage of the event.
