CYBERSPACE—Over the months since it came into existence, the website Tranzgendr.com has done its best to create a trans-friendly atmosphere on at least its own small portion of the internet, posting trans-friendly stories such as Obama Administration Wins First Round for Trans Bathroom Rights, France Repeals Its Transgender Sterilization Law, Buck-off: The First-Ever Sex Toy for Trans Men Is Now Available (featuring adult's own TG star Buck Angel), and many others.
But according to the site's creator, SlickLion, running the website is something of a drain on both time and money, and although early on he stated his "intention of helping transgender men and women in the sex industry," since "I’ve always felt that all people within this community were and are worthy of my love, respect, and intellect," according to an article he posted on Huffington Post, "Many of you may be asking yourself, why are there a bunch of webcam ads on TRANZGENDR.com today? The reason is simple, we have no choice."
"There are three major problems that we ran into while making TRANZGENDR news," SlickLion explains. "The first problem is with transgender community’s population size. Because the community is only .6 percent of the world, we will always run into traffic issues. The second problem is the fact that the community is economically oppressed. Meaning if we run ads for Amazon, the decreased purchasing power affects the amount of financial support we get from those ads. Tapping into guys with disposable incomes who are interested in transgender women is a savvy business decision any way you look at it. The biggest and final problem are ad-blockers. Because the world uses ad-blockers the revenue we would normally get is cut in half, and that percentage is growing. We have no budget to cut, so our only choice is to find another way to support our independent transgender news site."
After logging into the Tranzgendr.com site, there's a button on the home page with the legend "Webcams - Come Play With the Kittens," which leads to a page filled beautiful TGs in various states of undress, and mousing over any photo brings up a live (if tiny) webcam feed of the girl.
It's unclear why SlickLion feels he has to apologize for providing this public service on the Tranzgendr website, and warns that eventually he may have to put the site behind a pay subscription wall, but for the moment, it's all freely available.
"With all that said, you all should start looking at TRANZGENDR differently," SlickLion concludes. "The site will likely be a bit more racy, and I think that’s fine. Playboy is both racy and a respected news magazine. It’s OK for the transgender community have its own version of Playboy. You can disagree with the format, but what is not OK is for this community to not have its own independent news source. ... We deserve better than that, and I plan on giving the community best transgender news on the planet."
