YouTube Expands Mobile Access to Videos

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - YouTube is making it easier for fans to access and upload videos using their mobile devices.

The company said on Thursday that its enhancements to YouTube for Mobile will give users access to the largest mobile video catalog available, as well as tools to make the experience more personal.

Claiming a catalog of tens of millions of videos, YouTube said users of YouTube for Mobile can access the material on more than 100 million devices worldwide, as YouTube works with manufacturers such as Motorola, LG, Helio and Nokia. YouTube for Mobile requires a streaming-capable phone and a 3G operator.

The enhancements also allow users to access features regularly used on YouTube, including their own accounts. Users also can upload videos to the site using their mobile devices.

The application currently is in beta and is available in U.S. and U.K. English.
