South Korean scientists say they have created a new, wearable device that could take virtual reality porn to a whole new level, allowing users to touch, feel and even stroke simulated objects, including presumably human beings. The lightweight silicone glove could have important, real-life applications—such as aiding surgeons to become as precise as possible when performing delicate procedures.
But the uses for VR porn appear clear. According to Korea Institute of Science and Technology robot scientist Youngsu Cha, the glove simulates actual pressure on the hand—as opposed to previous VR gloves that use vibration in an attempt to simulate sensations of touch, according to a report by The Daily Mail newspaper.
"There are many gloves for virtual reality. However, their feedback is based on vibration. Mine is based on pressing," Cha said, as quoted by the Mail. "For example, when a user grabs a virtual object, while conventional ones give vibration feedback, the proposed device pushes the skin of the finger tip. It is close to the real situation."
The glove is also “lightweight,” allowing users to “feel the actual shape” of the virtual objects in whatever VR video they happen to be watching, or in which they are immersing themselves, according to Cha. Similar gloves are too bulky to allow users to “feel” the shape of the objects they are virtually handling.
When the glove goes on sale, which Cha projects will take place within “a few years,” porn is certain to be among the early adopters. But the glove could also revolutionize online gaming, and even aid in realistically recreating ancient civilizations in virtual reality.
