Vivid Drops AEBN Piracy Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES - Vivid Entertainment Group dropped its piracy lawsuit Monday against Data Conversions Inc., owners of video-on-demand provider AEBN, for allegedly posting copyrighted material on the free adult tube site PornoTube.com.

The suit, filed Dec. 6 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, claimed that "among other things, defendants copied, published, distributed, and publicly distributed Vivid's copyrighted works by and through the website PornoTube.com." Vivid was seeking a permanent injunction and reparation in the neighborhood of $150,000 per alleged violation.

Nevertheless, a notice was filed Monday by Vivid attorney Jonathan Brown stating "whereas defendants have not answered the complaint or filed a motion for summary judgment, plaintiff hereby dismisses its claims against all defendants without prejudice."

Representatives for Vivid and AEBN could not be reached for comment as of this posting.

No terms of the settlement were available as of Monday evening.
