LOS ANGELES — The MŌN App, an inclusive audio app catering to conversations centering on sex, will host a chat series with a mission to remove the stigma from STD/STI diagnosis through open dialogue with influencers, advocates, and organizations throughout the week on The MŌN App.
MŌN will open up the dialog to experiences of STD/STI diagnoses and prevention through removing stigma, generating awareness, and advocating for prevention. The series will include talks with sex workers, advocates, and activists who are bringing their personal experiences to the conversation.
Tricia Wise, creator of popular sex-positive Instagram account @Safe.Slut, started the account to promote safer sex practices and sex-positivity, witch tips for healing and reclaiming your power, and also help end the stigma surrounding slut-shaming. “I love that MŌN exists to continue the conversation surrounding STIs and sex-positivity in a candid and uncensored way,” says Wise.
Also participating in the series is HIV Activist and author of “The Counseling Session” Tarik Daniels will be discussing their work on creating awareness around HIV prevention. “Freedom looks different for everybody…. but I know it doesn't include stigma and shame,” says Daniels.
“There’s a lot that I learned by trial and error, especially when it comes to sex and relationships because platforms like MON didn’t exist when I was navigating these challenges,” says Sex and Relationship Coach, podcast host, and Pleasure Activator, Catherine Drysdale. “It’s so important to have a safe space to talk intimately about these topics that are typically seen as taboo, especially in creating awareness and de-stigmatizing STIs.”
“Sexual health is mental health, and the sooner we get people on board with the idea, then the more allies we create to combat stigma. MŌN is the perfect place for that,” said Courtney Brame, mental and sexual health advocate and podcast host of “Something Positive for Positive People."
The MŌN App founder/CEO Caleth Jones said, “As the founder of a platform designed to talk about sex, it’s important that we take the opportunity to discuss the risks, but also create awareness around prevention in an effort to remove the stigma“
