CYBERSPACE—Elon Musk has had a storied career so far. He founded PayPal, invented/marketed the Tesla automobile, began space exploration company SpaceX, tried to help rescue a Thai soccer team that was trapped in a cave by flood waters and even created The Boring Company to dig a tunnel through the Hollywood Hills to speed commuters' travels. But sadly, Musk has run into a few troubles recently. Failure to deliver some Tesla models on time caused a drop in stock prices, as did a failed attempt to take the company private. But one activity that seems to have drawn a lot of attention was a video of Musk on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast where the entrepreneur appeared to be smoking a rather large marijuana cigarette—and that inspired XBlaze honcho Jeff Dillon to offer Musk a job.
"What a pleasant surprise to see you on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast this week discussing your current innovative projects, the future of A.I., inventing a flamethrower inspired by your love of the movie Spaceballs and smoking a blunt with Joe on-air," Dillon wrote in a letter to Musk dated last Friday. "Since you are clearly a fearless man with an adventurous spirit, we at XBlaze, a hardcore adult entertainment company with an emphasis on all things weed, would like to offer you something adventurous as well—a (non-sex) role in one of our upcoming hardcore productions."
And Dillon, well aware of the status of his correspondent, wasn't offering Musk chump change for a walk-on.
"Our offer would include $150,000, an all-day supply of smoking products and edibles, as well as a lifetime of indelible memories from your day with us during the shoot," Dillon stated. "I believe that we could make an incredible film together that combines your endless energy, exploratory nature and can-do attitude."
Interestingly, Musk had previously come out as anti-pot, telling a New York Times interviewer, "Weed is not helpful for productivity. There's a reason for the word 'stoned'. You just sit there like a stone on weed." Musk revealed in August that his choice of bedtime medication is Ambien.
But Rogan, well aware of Musk's statements, offered the mogul a joint during the podcast, though commenting, "You probably can't do this because of stockholders, right?"
But Musk, displaying that adventurous spirit, took the joint from Rogan and lit up, exhaling big lungfuls of pot smoke for the cameras. The clip found its way to YouTube, where it garnered millions of views—and caused Tesla's stock to drop 6 percent. (There's also a possibility that Musk's marijuana adventure could cost him a lot more than that, since pot use is a big no-no for anyone with a government security clearance—like Musk has had since 2015 when SpaceX began launching satellites for the military.)
But however Musk's social and legal standing may have been affected by his pot smoking, Dillon feels he has found a kindred spirit.
"As the founder and CEO of XBlaze with a similar love of adventure, I believe that we could make an incredible film together that combines your endless energy, exploratory nature and can-do attitude," he wrote in the September 7 letter, adding later, "We've also given some thought to writing a porn parody based on your subterranean tunnel construction business, The Boring Company."
Do we detect the possibility of an anal-themed weed-fueled romp, which Musk could easily sit by and watch?
"As an influential and popular entrepreneur and media personality, I hope you consider our offer and respond at your earliest convenience," Dillon's letter concluded.
The Sun (UK) newspaper, a Murdoch publication, got wind of the letter and ran a non-flattering full-page story on it, which was later picked up by another Murdoch rag, the New York Post.
AVN reached out to Dillon to see if he'd yet had a response from Musk, but sadly, he hadn't.
"We were excited to see Elon puff a splif on Joe's podcast," Dillon told AVN. "It's not every day you see one of the most intelligent and innovative minds on the planet smoke weed live. This goes a long way to help destigmatize cannabis and the cannabis market. I've always viewed Elon as an adventurous guy, but not so adventurous he would star in a porn so I figured I would offer him something fun like a non-sex role featuring him smoking up—not inhaling, of course. Let's hope he responds."
Frankly, we can hardly wait!
