LOS ANGELES—The countdown has begun for the release of German industrial metal sextet Rammstein’s latest video, “Pussy,” which reportedly contains footage so explicit it “likely [will] be banned by video-sharing services and simultaneously be one of the most viewed music videos of the year,” according to a press release issued by the band Tuesday.
“Pussy’s” online is expected to take place Wednesday at 4 p.m. EST, with ongoing availability thereafter. Teasers from the clip were splashed across German television in the days preceding the official release, with websites posting grainy images worldwide.
The video was helmed by noted Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund and can be seen on Visit-X.net. Åkerlund directed the feature film Spun, as well as videos for Madonna (including the Grammy winning “Ray of Light” and “Celebration”), U2 (“Beautiful Day”), Metallica (“Whiskey in the Jar,” “Turn the Page”) and Lady Gaga (“Paparazzi”).
“Pussy” is the first single to be released off the Berlin-based band’s new album, Liebe Ist Für Alle Da. Vagrant Records plans to street the album in the U.S. Oct. 20 (Oct. 16 in Germany).
