MONTREAL—Adult gaming just got a content upgrade with the launch of the anticipated title, Crystal Maidens. In partnership with Super Hippo, Nutaku on Monday announced the Adventure Browser title is now live on the adult gaming platform as of this morning.
The title was a result of one of Nutaku’s ongoing investment opportunities, offering indie game developers a chance to fulfill their titles amidst a bleak future on the app store.
Crystal Maidens was set to launch on mainstream media, but fell short on the substantial funds required to bring the project to completion. Nutaku’s investment provided the necessary capital, in addition to guaranteed success as part of the platform’s promise to secure 100K players in one month. After only hours of going live, the title has climbed to Nutaku’s Top 2 games, proving a great start to the launch.
Crystal Maidens' artwork evokes a whole new genre of game illustrations, according to Nutaku. The new game came as an endeavor to match top-notch game play with high-quality artwork.
“While we were researching the adult games market, we found some good games with low-quality art, and some bad games with high-quality art," said Vincent Archambault from Super Hippo. "As developers, we always put in a lot of efforts into developing the technology and the gameplay mechanics behind the game, and we wanted the artwork to reflect this high-quality standard. Our goal has been to stand out from the crowd by creating a great game with amazingly beautiful artwork.”
In the game, the world of Crystal Maidens has been invaded by a powerful wizard that subjugates and controls the minds of young maidens to do his biddings. When players find themselves shipwrecked after a war against a dark force, the adventure begins on a strange island with a mysterious portal and an alluring stranger. With the help of magical crystals and a harem of beautiful women, a hero must rise to battle through lush forests, deserts and snowy peaks in the quest to destroy evil and liberate the maidens of the world.
Players will find classic JRPG storyline gameplay reminiscent of Clash Royale and Heroes Charge, met with island-building features inspired by Summoner’s War. Crystal Maidens artwork constructs a category of its own, paying subtle homage to anime from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.
