LOS ANGELES—A new website, created by adult industry insiders, will launch soon with the aim of creating informed, complex conversations about “ethical porn.” To help with that, Coleen Singer, writer and industry advocate, is looking for input from industry members.
“What are your thoughts on ethical porn? We’d love to hear them!” Singer said. “We are looking for insights and input from all corners of the industry—what do you think about ethical porn?”
At its most essential, ethical adult content is consensual and created in an environment that emphasizes worker safety. Elements like tenor and intensity, sex acts being depicted, or production value do not preclude content from being ethical. Beyond these key dimensions however are a wealth of issues, standpoints, and concerns that require multidimensional, evolving dialogue.
With this context in mind, this forthcoming site—which launches May 11 and features the tagline “Transcend genre, emphasize consent, start conversation”—is dedicated to starting conversations about ethical porn as a complex entity, one that exists within the adult entertainment industry, as well as synergistically interconnected to wider society. These conversations require insights from people directly connected to ethical porn content production. As such, the site includes perspectives on ethical porn from a wide scope of industry insiders, including Angela White, Kristel Penn and Jacky St. James, among many others.
