LAS VEGAS—Cam girl Ashe Maree likes posting on MFC Share, the blossoming photo and video sharing platform MyFreeCams is calling the “next generation of content management.”
“I’m excited with the progress that I’m making,” Maree says. “They just dropped a few features that are going to be imperative for me. I’m excited to see how much further they take the different features.”
The native of California networked with fans and friends alike Thursday at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where the pace quickened at the 2018 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo presented by MyFreeCams.
Now closing in on six years as a full-time cam model for MFC, Maree says most times what she does for a living doesn’t feel like work.
“I think it’s because that I often forget that I’m on a cam site that is run by other people. I still feel so much like my own boss,” says Maree, who did sales at a Bebe clothing store and worked as a hostess at Islands restaurant before finding her groove in the cam world. “There are so few behavioral rules. … MFC is just do what’s comfortable, do what works for you and that’s perfect for me. Camming became a career after MFC for me.”
Maree stayed busy handing out sexy promo cards she made that listed her social media handles while socializing in the MFC corridor outside Muse Hall.
“I’ve mostly been picking up other people’s promo cards because—babes,” Maree jokes, adding that MFC Share has given her a convenient new avenue to cross-promote herself.
“It’s a really good way to promote freebie clips, getting people to go over there and watch your free stuff,” she says. “I can sell photosets on there. I can sell memberships—like Club memberships—which is nice.”
Maree offers specials for her Club members, such as “a half-off discount for the two months that you’re a member.”
“You can buy certain things that other people can’t. Basically, if you can prove that you’re very much willing to put a little bit of extra money in at the beginning I’m going to spoil you a little bit more than the other members.”
Maree was among the early adopters of MFC Share, testing it out in the first couple days.
“I uploaded a couple videos just to kind of see…With the recent Bulk Uploader [function] I just uploaded everything and I’m ready to make the switch,” she says.
MyFreeCams made it a priority to get the word out about MFC Share in Vegas this week with branding on the back of the tradeshow badges, on the elevator doors in the Casino Tower and with a decked out MFC Share booth in the middle of Muse Hall.
Bailey Rayne, who is featured on the cover of the January issue of CAMStar magazine, cammed live from the MFC Share booth, pausing to take photos and sign autographs for a steady stream of admirers while wearing a white MFC bikini.
A native of Indiana who has a music degree, Rayne brought copies of CAMStar and Penthouse to the show and by Thursday afternoon had already paid for her trip to Vegas thanks to tips and sales. She says it’s somewhat “surreal” going from not being that closely involved in the annual Vegas festivities in the past two years to this year being a featured model—she joined eight other CAMStars to cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the show Wednesday—and her issue of CAMStar is being passed out at the convention, which is on track to draw 35,000-plus fans of adult entertainment over the four-day span. She also has a “surprise” in store before the weekend concludes.
Speaking of CAMStar models, Catjira held court at the booth outside Muse Hall, giving out stickers and signing copies of her colorful November 2017 issue while dressed as her signature cosplay character Harley Quinn—with bunny ears.
“I’m not camming I’m just hanging out,” Catjira tells AVN, noting this marks her first time in Vegas for the biggest week in adult entertainment.
Catjira received nominations for AVN Favorite Cam Girl and Favorite Camming Cosplayer—a new award for 2018—for Saturday night’s 35th AVN Awards Show.
“That was really flattering because I’m mainly just recognized for cosplay, which I love because that’s what I do,” Catjira says. “So for both I wasn’t expecting that—I’m like I’m way cooler than I actually am.
“But the Cosplay one is the one. It’s the first time that you all are doing that so it’s kind of a big deal to me.”
The business-minded model says she has incorporated MFC Share into her already strong promotional game.
“I use it for everything,” Catjira says. “I put my trailers on there and my previews which I normally would do on Twitter, but now that I have Share I direct my traffic there, so I like that. I like that I can do stream or download. I like that I can hide or charge. I like the different Clubs so I can divide stuff up. It’s way better than the other video hosting sites I’ve tried, it’s just that there’s not the traffic there yet so I’m trying to direct my fans there. It’s working so far.”
Launched in Summer of 2017, MFC Share is rolling out new functions on the site all the time. This week they tweeted, “Now you can send out Vouchers for your Albums, Collections, and Club Memberships with 1 click using the new MFC Mail link! Especially useful if you have many existing members to invite to your new Clubs on Share!”
In another tweet, MFC said: “Clubs now show up on your main MFC Share profile and below your cam when you broadcast on @MyFreeCams! Also, you can now embed your list of Clubs separately on your MFC Profile.”
A day earlier on January 23, MFC Share unveiled the function for models to “rearrange all your Albums, Collections, Items, and Clubs, with simple drag and drop.”
The MFC model known as Scout, who was the August 2017 CAMStar, believes MFC Share “came at a pivotal moment for the industry.”
“There was definitely a need for another ‘clip site’ option out there,” says Scout, who is also nominated for the AVN Favorite Cam Girl award. “And there is no company that I personally trust more than MFC so it was just an easy transition, especially with how easy MFC made it. It’s connected to MyFreeCams in the sense that your tokens you earn there count as offline tips currently.
“The changes they are making are a combination of new and old ideas refined, tailored to how cam models run their Clubs, store items, and content. Each change they have made has only made Share easier to use on the model end and I love that. It's not just about making sales with MFC, they are really open to suggestions from models for ease of use on our end and for making everything look aesthetically better. January is a rank month for me and a lot of my token total for rank is via Share. I am currently number 1 on Share and number 10 on MFC so my rank on Share is exclusively Share sales.”
A native of New York who is known as “the Kanye West of camming,” Scout maximizes her MFC Share page.
“I was drawn to Share because I like finding ways to be creative with camming,” Scout continues. “When MFC Share’s tips first showed up green in the chat, instead of the typical yellow, I was the first person to have a green tip wall live on cam. I titled the store item Green Beans and it cost one token to tip it in the room. The other things I've done is moved all my Clubs there...The videos you can now get instantly instead of waiting for a model to get back to you if you tipped offline. There is really so much I could say about this platform that I am in love with! … I even incorporated a game that has door number 1, 2 and 3 and only one of the doors has a prize!
“The other thing I did when I first joined was push my follower count. I released a free shoot at every 100 followers. MFC was ranking us on the homepage there by followers at first...I low key figured it out right away. Now if you are on the homepage there you are defaulted rank by token earnings and you can toggle back and forth between earnings and followers.”
More than 700 models from MyFreeCams came to this week’s event to meet their fans, connect with other cam girls and party. Ava from MFC attracted plenty of attention outside Muse Hall wearing a sheer white negligee and pasties that said “Fuck Me!” in red.
She tells AVN she started camming about five years ago with one year off during that time.
“I love it,” says Ava, who grew up in Washington and now lives in Hawaii. “This is my first time here. I like it, it’s fun meeting the other girls. The last few years I wanted to go but there was always something that came up.”
The 25-year-old stunner completed courses to be a pharmacy technician and was considering continuing her studies to become a pharmacist before finding MFC. She says she’s looking forward to tonight’s private MFC concert with Lil Wayne.
So is Tammy Gold, who is from Brooklyn, N.Y., and decided to stay at Hard Rock for the first time this year. Gold, who is a full-time hair stylist in New York, was impossible to miss in her body suit adorned with marijuana leaves. She says she has “a lot” of favorite Lil Wayne songs.
“I try to wear green,” Gold says. “Tomorrow I’ll have green hair. I’m coming to the Awards Show for the first time and I’ll going to cam the rest of the week, too.”
