DETROIT—When Brad Mitchell founded his company back in 1999, he probably never expected that one day he would be inducted to the AVN Hall of Fame. On January 27th that is exactly what will happen, and Mitchell is excited to be part of the elite circle alongside world famous porn stars.
"We pride ourselves on having won many awards over the years, but there are a few that really stand out in my mind," Mitchell said. "The first award we ever won was a milestone for us that we were doing something right, and having won Businessman of the Year was a very personal one for me. 'Hall of Fame' says something much more. It symbolizes lifelong dedication and a true lasting legacy."
"Brad is one of the most caring and kind people I've had the pleasure to call my friend in this industry," said Julie Larson of JuicyAds. "I admire the way he runs his business and the way he is able to focus on family while managing his company. He is someone we can all look up to and aspire to be like."
However, being a "good guy" who built a company can only take you so far. At some point, performance is really what matters to clients and the retention of customers. Beyond its humble beginnings, MojoHost has met that challenge and now powers a large number of adult websites. If you make a couple quick Domain WHOIS searches you'll see that MojoHost hosts some of the largest and most well-known companies in the adult industry, the ones that are synonymous with the industry itself. Recognizable brands such as New Sensations, CAM4, Flirt4Free, Penthouse, and Clips4Sale all call MojoHost home.
MojoHost, based in Bingham Farms, Michigan, has reached several milestones in its long history. Its global expansion to the newest European data center location in Amsterdam and the upcoming launch of cloud hosting services shows that they are operating in a leading position and at the forefront of their business segment.
"This induction is very well-deserved and long overdue," said Joey Gabra, business development at New Media Services. "Brad Mitchell has consistently remained on the forefront of the tech solutions the whole team provides at MojoHost. Brad has made MojoHost a household name in the adult tech space... and he is proof that you can still be a tremendous success in business while being kind and courteous to everyone he comes in contact with."
MojoHost strives to offer 'more than managed' hosting, which has led to more than 2000 clients using the MojoHost service over its lifetime. Mitchell is often found taking matters personally that most other CEOs or founders would delegate to lower level sales or tech support. His attention to detail and the value in each client has pushed the brand ahead of the rest.
"I’ve been hosting with Brad for several years now and I feel I’m at the perfect spot," said Patrick The Hun, founder of The Hun. "Especially the 24-hour support is great. We internet peeps don’t always work at regular office hours and our visitors come 24 hours a day. A 24 hour a day support is a necessity in that case! They’re ready to think out of the box and act fast. On a more personal level, I do love to hang out with Brad and the whole MojoHost crew. You got to love the shirts!"
The Hun was referencing the "painted shirts" frequently worn by Brad, designed lovingly by his children.
Brad has led MojoHost through the dot-com bubble, the financial crisis, and the more recent struggle for survival of the adult industry itself. Growing into the role, one would never know at his first conference in May 2000 at the age of 24, Mitchell was 'the shy guy in the back of the room' with social anxiety. Every company achievement has been eclipsed by the next and the greatest accomplishments that are happening right now.
Mitchell's generosity and hospitality to clients and non-clients alike is so widely known that it has become traditional. The company modestly refers to these acts simply (and fittingly) as "Good Mojo." Time has shown that in the case of this company, the characteristics of a company's leadership can become symbiotic with the company itself.
"Three Cheers to Brad Mitchell from everyone at Paxum!" said Ruth Blair, head of marketing for Paxum. "Brad is professional, dedicated, intelligent, highly approachable and a great person all-around! We can't think of anyone more deserving to be inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame. As Brad himself often says, 'That's good Mojo!'”
MojoHost is probably better known for its customer service than the actual services they sell, that now include hosting, CDN, virtual private servers, domain registration, and more. Brad and the MojoHost team will be in attendance at the Internext Expo in Las Vegas January 19-23. MojoHost and its co-sponsors CAM4 and Paxum are hosting the must-attend InterNEXT pre-party this Friday.
