SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—Web hosting firm MohoHost has announced the launch of MojoIce, a new object storage solution designed for active backups, internal content management, and other colder storage needs, which the company touts as "a more cost-effective and reliable alternative to popular solutions like Wasabi, AWS Glacier and Backblaze."
"While Wasabi and Backblaze imply heat in their names, they are in fact cold storage solutions based on IOPS and throughput limitations with a high cost of egress bandwidth when it exceeds the amount stored and unfavorable data retention policies," MojoHost president Brad Mitchell explained. "MojoHost's core values are integrity and value. "MojoIce offers a better alternative with lower pricing, higher performance, no hidden fees, and no contractual requirements."
MojoIce's pricing per GB is $0.0055, with free transfer up to the current capacity in use and an overage cost of $0.004 per GB. This makes storage nearly 10 percent off Wasabi’s retail, data transfer 90 percent off and a 100 percent savings with no data retention pricing. Backblaze charges $0.01 per GB transferred, more than twice the price and with no included bandwidth like MojoIce.
"MojoIce offers more honest and transparent terms compared to Wasabi," added Natalie Pannon, Biz Dev at MojoHost. "For one, MojoIce does not maintain a three-month retention policy. With Wasabi, you pay for any file uploaded for three months, even if it is deleted the next day. The #GoodMojo pledge is a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee."
MojoIce joins MojoHost's full suite of cloud storage services, including MojoFire and MojoVault object storage. For more information on MojoCloud products, visit www.mojohost.com.
