‘MILF’ Bumps ‘Lesbian’ From PornHub's ‘Most Searched’ Top Ranking

PornHub released its always eagerly awaited “Year In Review” statistics on Tuesday, with numbers showing another bustling year for the popularity of online porn, with an average of more than 207,000 videos viewed on the porn mega-site every single minute of the year 2018.

Porn fans worldwide visited the site 33.5 billion times in 2018, for an average of 92 million visits per day, according to the PornHub Insights  statistics. As the site noted in its summary of the stats, the equivalent of the total combined populations of Australia, Canada, and Poland visited the giant porn site every day. And with more than 12.7 million gigabytes transferred every day, the site uses more bandwidth than was used by the entire internet in the year 2002.

The United States yet again far outstripped every other country in the world in PornHub traffic, with the United Kingdom placing second, as it did in 2017 as well. India, Japan, and Canada again rounded out the top five countries in terms of PornHub traffic, also a repeat of 2017.

One category that was nowhere to be found in the Pornhub stats was “safe for work.” Just two weeks ago, the site introduced a new SFW category  “that features videos without nudity.” Whether the new SFW section makes a dent in PornHub’s “most searched” list will have to wait until next year.

But 2018 saw a few changes to the list of the site’s “most searched” terms, which show the types of porn preferred by the site’s visitors in various countries. In the United States, the search term “MILF” came in at number one, dropping “lesbian” off the Top 20 list altogether—though lesbian porn remained PornHub’s most popular category of videos.

While “ebony” and “threesome” moved up into the second and third-ranked spots respectively, the biggest gains on the chart belonged to “Latina,” which jumped 14 places up the ladder to the seventh spot, “black” which rose nine spots to Number 11, and “big tits” which also gained nine places to finish in the ninth “most searched’” position.

The most-searched porn star on PornHub, was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Stormy Daniels, whose ongoing legal battles with Donald Trump have given her a degree of name recognition  that extends well beyond porn fandom.

Riley Reid placed second, and Mia Khalifa, who has not appeared in a new porn video since 2016, placed third on the list.

While the largest segment of PornHub interest went to the United States, U.S. porn viewers spent only the third-most time per visit, on average. Top honors were captured by porn fans in the Philippines, who stayed on the site for an average of 13 minutes and 50 seconds per visit, easily outlasting second-ranked South Africa, whose PornHub visitors stayed on the site for 10:57 per visit. United States fans stayed on the site for 10:37, followed by fourth-place Ukraine whose porn fans showed an endurance of 10:26 per visit, still beyond the worldwide average of 10:13.

Women visiting PornHub again showed a strong preference for lesbian porn, which topped the list of most-searched terms among female PornHub fans. The video game Fortnite was the most popular category among women, but among porn-related categories, “Lesbian strap-on” took the prize, with an increase of 392 percent over last year.

Compared to male PornHub visitors, women were almost four times as likely to explore PornHub’s “Pussy Licking” category, and close to three times more likely to view videos categorized as “solo male.”

“Women continue to favor lesbian porn. They get to see acts they enjoy on themselves—that’s why ‘pussy licking’ is popular,” said PornHub Sexual Wellness Center Director Dr Laurie Betito. “They also seem to enjoy simple eye candy (‘solo male’) performing just for her, perhaps in her ‘fantasy.’”
