LOS ANGELES — Shameless in the South, a new reality series about the lives of OnlyFans creators in Nashville, premiered online this week. Produced by Sex Work CEO founder MelRose Michaels, the series follows Michaels as she explores the community of OnlyFans entrepreneurs in the Bible Belt. The first episode introduces Michaels and fellow adult creator Tawni Jade, spiritual entrepreneur Conway and local musician Jade Million.
“I created Shameless to show the reality of life as an OnlyFans creator in a red state,” says Michaels. “There are countless myths and misconceptions about us and what we do, and that’s only amplified in conservative areas. As a recent transplant, I was desperate to find other Southern creators proud of what we do. Shameless is our story, and a way to highlight some of the incredible creators who are here.”
The first episode of Shameless in the South debuted online on Sept 1. Future Shameless episodes will debut weekly, featuring a more in-depth look at individual creators, their businesses and their social lives. Michaels hopes the series will help creator narratives more easily reach the mainstream.
“We’re not the only ones doing this,” Michaels says. “Tawni, Jade, Conway and I are just a narrow slice of a much richer world of creators in the South. I’m excited to bring more voices and personalities in as the series gets on its feet, because there are so many incredible stories to tell.”
MelRose Michaels got her start in the adult industry as a cam model in 2011. Within a month, she became a Top 20 model on MyFreeCams, launching her career not only as a model, but an entrepreneur. In the years since, Michaels has built a multifaceted business and media empire, including Networthy, a sex worker clothing line; "On the Whorizon," a podcast about sex work; and Sex Work CEO, a platform to help sex workers think like entrepreneurs.
The first episode of Shameless in the South (“Batting 100”) can now be viewed on MelRose Michael’s YouTube channel.
