LONDON—Adult camming site ImLive.com has recruited actress/director/singer Bella Thorne and other celebrities to participate in a new campaign dubbed "Stay Home, Don't Date" aimed at condemning physical dating during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
For the campaign, ImLive is giving away up to $50 million worth of credits to new users who commit to abstaining from dating during quarantine. A promotional video for the campaign was created by a number of ImLive hosts, and it is also being promoted by Thorne, along with rapper/MTV Wild N Out host Justina Valentina, adult superstar Riley Reid and rapper Almighty Jay.
Almighty Jay, who was recently chastised in the media for ignoring social distancing guidelines, said he has changed his position on the matter. "I got involved with the #stayhomedontdate campaign because I realized that a lot of young folks aren't taking this pandemic seriously," the artist commentd. "I saw how it was affecting my community the hardest, so when I was presented the opportunity to work with ImLive to encourage people to stay at home, it made sense. We all have to take this seriously ... not woprth the risk to date right now."
In addition to the campaign, ImLive plans to donate up to $250,000 to the World Health Organization to fund efforts to help stop the spread of COVID-19. It has also launched a petition against dating on Change.org, which can be found here.
"It's been a long time in quarantine and we're all feeling disonnected from normal life," ImLive VP Adrian Stoneman said. "We know it's tempting to go out and meet people, especially when you're felling lonely. And according to a survey we conducted, there are still a lot of people who are physically dating. Now, more than ever, it's time to stay home and not date. Through our collective efforts, we know physical distancing whorks to flatten the curve. We at ImLive believe that our platform is best suited to assist people with their loneliness and horniness while in quarantine."
The survey in question, which was conducted on Pollfish, polled 1,000 Americans who have used dating sites in the last year. It found that 55 percent or people are still using dating sites during the coronavirus, nearly 24 percent have physically met up with someone they matched with on a dating site since the pandemic began, and 12.5 percent admitted to being intimate with someone they don't live with during quarantine.
From April 22 to 26, ImLive will host parties on its site to further encourage social distancing. Hundreds of hosts will be dressed like angels and available to chat about the petition and their lives.
