Believe it or not, Mariah Milano has been performing on and off since 1998. She left two years into her career after starring in more than a couple hundred movies only to return in 2004 with a vengeance via the internet. After a chance meeting with a friend who was a nude model, Milano took the route many barely legal hotties have taken in the business—straight to Jim South’s World Modeling and then to Ed Powers’ set in short succession.

How did you get started modeling?
I was at a nail salon when I was 17 and ran into a girl I went to junior high school with. She showed me an adult magazine that she modeled for, and I was blown away. I wanted to be that girl! She was on her way to shoot a movie for Video Team and asked if I was interested in meeting the producer when I turned 18. I waited two more weeks, called him, and the rest is history.
How did you get started running your own site?
I had met with this webmaster in 2000 who offered me a partnership to run my site and I said no. He built the site anyway without my permission and for four years he had the only Mariah site online and it drove me crazy. In 2004 I decided to put him out of business since he refused to take the site down.
What’s the most rewarding thing about running your own website?
Being my own boss and being in control of everything that is on the site. I also love my members and consider many of them close friends. I have several who have been members since the first month it went live in 2004.

If you weren’t a model and webmaster, what other career would you like to have?
I can’t imagine doing anything else, so I can’t even answer that.
How do you plan to keep your website profitable in a tough economy?
I currently have a brand-new update scheduled every day until Sept. 23, and have over 300 videos and 198 photo sets still ready to add, plus scheduled shoots I’m doing. Live interaction also is a key, but keeping the content fresh with a big variety and updated constantly is the most important to me.
Where do you see the online industry headed in the next few years?
God, I have no idea. I hope it turns around. I see a lot of people struggling, but for a lot of people, it’s their own faults. When it was easy many took it for granted and didn’t work as hard as they could have. They didn’t learn the ins and outs, and didn’t develop the marketing skills that they now need since things got tough. They don’t know what the fuck to do now that they actually have to work to make things successful.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned being in the business?
Don’t trust people. I wish it were a positive lesson, but it hasn’t been. I helped my best friend get started in this business and they ended up burning me. To this day she copies literally everything I do from hairstyle and color to items on her wish list! I know the greatest form of flattery is imitation but at some point it just gets fucking annoying. I also learned that fans aren’t perverts or weirdos, but just normal everyday people who happen to have a liking for hot sex videos and photos.
