LOS ANGELES—BSky Verified, an independent verification platform for Bluesky social app users, has launched, offering bskyverified.social handles to verified notable users.
Bluesky is a decentralized social app that places more control in the hands of users, allowing them to develop their customized algorithm and providing blocking options.
However, when follower counts are still low on the growing platform, it can be difficult to determine whether one is interacting with the person they claim to be, a company representative said. BSky Verified “helps users stay ahead of catfish scammers.”
The app performs due diligence to verify users’ identities and then employs a built-in verification system to assign unique handles that cannot be copied. Only verified users can receive any bskyverified.social handle.
Bluesky founder Matt Slayer, a former private investigator and current host of the “And Now We Drink” podcast, explained, “While X and Instagram currently permit any user to purchase verification, BSky Verified provides both prestige and peace of mind. Our third-party verification system generates user handles that cannot ever be duplicated by catfishes.”
“When a user receives a bskyverified.social handle, it is verified through our website. If we determine that you meet eligibility criteria, you need not send us any sensitive documents. We schedule a Zoom call to ensure that you are indeed the person that you claim to be, and we onboard you into the system during the call. It’s that straightforward,” Slayer added. “If you have a large public following and want to let your users know that you are really you, say it with a BSky Verified username.”
BSky Verified supports the adult industry and sex worker community. Notable individuals can apply securely at www.bskyverified.social, and a BSky Verified representative will evaluate the applicant’s credentials, social footprint and other factors to determine eligibility and then receive price quotes via email.
