Web hosting company Webair has launched its VSYS virtual hosting system.
The system is entirely secure and allows users to seamlessly add storage, bandwidth, IP addresses and other elements of capacity to a website, the company said.
"The new VSYS hosting platform offers unparalleled security and reliability in a shared hosting environment," said Michael Christopher, president and chief operating officer of Webair. "A traditional host will share resources between all of the users, making it increasingly difficult to properly secure."
Webair said a user's virtual account can be easily upgraded to make use of dedicated servers, load-balanced clusters and Content Delivery Network hosting, with little or no downtime. This allows users to start with inexpensive virtual hosting accounts and expand as they grow to thousands of servers, while retaining the same control panel, logins and passwords, website paths, software versions and IP addresses, Webair said.
"Our technology takes a slightly different approach by assigning each virtual hosting client their own Apache instance," Christopher said. "All Apache applications and modules natively run as this distinct user, eliminating the need for complicated security and per-user or per-site configuration mechanisms."
