LOS ANGELES—In order to fuel grassroots publicity for Anton Slayer's Not Really...The Dukes of Hazzard: A Hardcore Parody, Vouyer Media is turning to such social media networks as YouTube and Twitter. The most ambitious project in the company's history, the two-disc feature will receive a same-day-and-date DVD and Blu-ray release Feb. 23.
The viral PR push began with the release of ten short behind-the-scenes clips via the company's flagship YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/vouyermedia.
“Response to the clips was brisk and enthusiastic,” the company said, “with a short BTS piece featuring Alexis Texas soaring to over 16,000 views within its first few weeks of release.”
The clips—which include an impromptu press conference with co-stars Shawna Lenee and Monique Alexander and a short blooper reel of "stunts-gone-wrong”—offer surfers unfettered access to every aspect of the movie's creation, says Voyeur Media, adding that after the clips went live, a "PG-13" trailer created exclusively for YouTube has since spread virally across the web.
On Twitter, the company will soon be announcing a trivia contest to be held on the popular social network. Users are being encouraged now to begin following Voyeur Media on its recently re-skinned Twitter page (www.twitter.com/vouyermedia), since trivia answers will need to be submitted through the service. Other contests unique to other social networks will be announced in the days and weeks ahead.
Not Really...The Dukes Of Hazzard: A Hardcore Parody—Vouyer Media's first venture into the feature and parody markets—was shot entirely on location in and around Malibu, Calif. “Starring four-time AVN Award nominee Ryder Skye as the iconic Daisy,” says the company, “the project finds the curvaceous Ms. Texas tackling the role of Kandy while Anthony Rosano and Bill Bailey headline as the titular "Dukes," two residents of fictional Hazzard County who rule the road in a modified muscle car while evading corrupt county commissioners and an inept backwoods sheriff.”
The extras-laden two-disc DVD includes the 16x9 widescreen HD feature, four bonus sex scenes, behind-the-scenes footage, star bios, a "Flick @ Night" PG 13-friendly cut of the movie and much more.
Regarding the emphasis on social networking to create a grassroots PR buzz, publicist Daniel M said, "Since we wrapped the shoot, I've reached out to fans of the original series in my search for some intriguing, episode-specific background information for the pre-release contests. I was stunned by the size of the fan base for the original show on such sites as MySpace and YouTube. Since these fans have been so supportive of our project, I felt it was only good business to reward them with some exclusive content and fun contests."
