SANTA CLARA, Cali. - On the heels of its new partnership with AVN Media Network, on-demand set-top box service VUDU has announced the launch of its new benchmark HDX format.
HDX enables the viewing of Internet-delivered movie content in full high-definition 1080p format that is optimized for 40 inch and larger high-definition televisions and home theaters.
HDX offers the highest quality available from any Internet, broadcast, cable, or satellite on-demand service, vividly detailed and virtually artifact free picture, high-resolution sound and the ability to initiate a download via the Web.
Starting Thursday, HDX movies will be available to all VUDU customers at the same price as standard high-definition titles.
In order to download a movie via the Web, simply visit the movie section of the VUDU website, select a movie, sign in and initiate a download. In order to view a movie via the VUDU set-top box, visit Explore Catalog and pick an HDX movie.
