Twitter 'Porn Name Game' Could Be Scam

SAN FRANCISCO - Played the "Porn Name Game" going around Twitter? Your personal information may be at risk.

The social networking message site has warned users they would become victims of identity fraud if they join in what appeared to be the latest Twitter top trend -- finding out your porn name.

According to PCWorld and other tech sites, the Porn Name Game could be a threat.  That's because the game exploits a security hole by asking users to post the name of the first pet and the first street they lived on or their mother's maiden name, then the answers are combined to arrive at a porn name. But those questions, which you might recognize, are typical security question options for many online accounts. So, if users are honest, they could well be putting themselves at risk.

Security experts note it might be innocent and just part of the way the game arrives at porn star names, or it might not.

So play if you must, compelled to have friends tweeting about your new name in porn. But don't give out the real information; it's just not worth it. And any online game that asks for specific personal information and life details should be treated with suspicion, even if it looks like fun.

For those who have played and revealed answers that match online security questions of banking or credit cards accounts and such, the experts urge you to delete the post, change passwords and update those security questions right away.
