VAN NUYS, Calif. - Tightfit Productions is launching a series of online membership sites to introduce its hard-edged series such as Sex and the Sybian, So Low, Assraelis and Punk Rock Punishment to the internet.
Tightfit President Oren Cohen told AVN that the company's new online presence will completely change its business model, allowing the consumer direct access to the company’s constantly updated content.
“People will still be able to find our titles on the shelves, they’ll just be distributed by someone else," Cohen said. "This change will give us more flexibility as a company, and we’ll be able to focus on other revenue streams that may be more lucrative than distribution. This is a really good move for us. Any time you can circumvent a bunch of extra steps and get your product directly to the person who will be deeming it worthy, is a good thing.”
The first three Tightfit websites, set to launch on Sept. 18, will be www.SexandtheSybian.com, www.Ambushed.com and www.SoLow.com.
According to Cohen, the company plans on launching five more websites by the end of September. Eventually, all of the Tightfit sites will be housed under one umbrella website.
The company celebrated its move into the online market last night with a launch party at Blue Moon Nights in North Hollywood.
“This is what we've been working towards,” continued Cohen. “We've built a great fan base on the strength of our DVD releases. Now, our loyal fans will get weekly updates of all their favorite types of content. No more waiting until part two of a DVD to come out. Switching our focus to the internet will give us the opportunity to broaden our fan base, while at the same time, put us in position to take advantage of emerging platforms like mobile delivery.”
Tightfit has released over 100 DVD titles since its launch in November 2003. Cohen said that the company plans on bringing the same sensibilities of their DVDs to their membership websites.
“When we released the first So Low DVD, it raised a lot of eye brows,” said Tightfit Vice President, Joanie Lee. “We created our own niche. Nobody else was doing that. Now, we'll be the only place on the internet to see that type of content.”
