CYBERSPACE—As the newest installment of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens, decends upon movie theaters and hordes of rabidly anxious fans this weekend, adult e-tailer GameLink.com reports that it has seen an over 500 percent spike in sales of Axel Braun's Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody, the 2012 megahit from his Axel Braun Productions and Vivid Entertainment.
The numbers for Braun's spoof of the sci-fi classic began to explode on Cyber Monday (November 30), GameLink said. Explained Jeff Dillon, president of business development for parent company eLine.com, "We actually began noticing a gradual increase in sales of the title at the beginning of November, but it wasn't until the past two weeks that purchases of Star Wars XXX really skyrocketed."
Dillon added, "The spike in sales for the parody is representative of a much larger trend of brand specific merchandise for Star Wars, which shows the strong bond fans have with the movies."
GameLink listed the top 10 cities purchasing the triple-X epic as: San Francisco; Little Rock, AR; New York; Tampa, FL; Chicago; Columbus, OH; Montreal; Toronto; Austin, TX and Oklahoma City, OK.
Commented Braun himself, "Due to the massive fan base of the original, Star Wars XXX is a movie that has retained strong sales since it came out. The current spike in interest was not unexpected, but that doesn't make it any less appreciated, or less awesome, especially since it was such a labor of love for all the people involved in it. All I can say is that, four years after its release, the Force is still pretty damn strong with this one!"
