Sechrest Refurbs JasonCurious

Gay adult industry personality Jason Sechrest has launched version 3.0 of his popular vanity site, JasonCurious.

With a “back to basics” approach and a renewed vigor, Sechrest says he is returning to the Liz Smith-inspired gossip that made his site so popular when it launched in 2002. In order to keep up with the blitz of bloggers such as Perez Hilton and The Defamer, Sechrest has turned his online columns Jason’s News Desk and Jason’s Diary into blogs, so he can “post the stories as I hear them, along with a lot of free content for my readers,” Sechrest writes in a press release. “They’ve been loyal and kept food on the table for what, five years now? It’s about time they get some free shit.”

Additionally, the site’s exclusive live sex show, JC TV Live, which previously featured solo performances, is morphing into a duo-scene show that will air as often as once a week. “We have hours and hours of porn stars jacking off or girls doing solo, and it’s time to move on and do something a little more hardcore with the site,” Sechrest tells AVNOnline.com.

Meanwhile, a third video-on-demand door has been added to the site’s JC Theatre through a partnership with Maleflixxx.

Sechrest says the overhaul is intended to make the site more competitive. “I think it was just time to update it,” he declares. “With the onslaught of blogging now, anyone can be a columnist, and anyone can provide a great deal of photo and video content so that the column itself becomes more user-interactive. When I first became a columnist in 1998 for Danni’s Hard Drive, I was inspired by columnists like Liz Smith and Cindy Adams. I find it very difficult to understand how those women are staying in business these days, because they’ve got celebrity bloggers [to compete against]. The second that you get the news, it can go up immediately with tons of photos and tons of videos.

“[Version 3.0 of JasonCurious will allow me] to have more of a sense of immediacy to the news,” Sechrest adds. “It’s much more instant gratification. The main thing is that there’s just so much more free content now. I don’t think JasonCurious ever allowed any of its content to be viewed on the free side, and now there is tons of free stuff daily, both video and photo content.”

With the additional features complementing his blogs, Sechrest says he thinks of the site as something far beyond the standard porn gossip site.

“It’s an adult entertainment mega-site now. It’s really grown [and] kind of exploded into its own thing—where it’s not just an online magazine; it’s not just news and gossip, but there’s actual content that we’re producing now.”

With plans to feature content from his new West Hollywood talk fest “The X Show” on the site, Sechrest says he hopes to offer porn fans something unique to tune into.

“I know that we were dabbling in producing here and there with the live shows, and people enjoyed it so much they said, ‘Please, give us more,’ and we’re just answering people’s requests by making the live shows weekly and giving them more hardcore stuff and free content,” Sechrest says. “We’re just listening to the responses of the many loyal readers who have been writing in over the last year.”
