LOS ANGELES - Capitalizing on the increasing number of mobile-video subscribers, Midnite Monkey and Porno Dan Films have released Porno Dan's content via the Midnite Monkey mobile site. Since the release, the mobile site has drawn 604 percent more visits and a 669 percent more revenue, a Midnite Monkey representative said.
The number of mobile-video subscribers is expected to reach 46 million by 2010, according to a recent report by Infonetics Research. The report said improved handsets and connection technology drove the 300-percent increase in subscriptions worldwide from 2005 to 2006. Service providers' revenue from mobile video reportedly spiked by 317 percent in the same time frame, reaching almost $200 million; Infonetics Research predicted that those numbers would triple by the end of 2007.
"We expect consumers to continue finding their way to mobile video, which will make it easy for all content owners to capture that viewership and revenue through our affiliate program," the Midnite Monkey representative said.
