MXN Ltd. — a Barbados-based Internet media and investment firm that acquires, develops, and deploys Web properties and is affiliated with PimpRoll — on Monday acquired the domain name Porn.com in a sale brokered by Moniker. Although specific terms of the deal were not released, total consideration was reported to be in excess of $9 million.
Plans for Porn.com were not revealed, but a representative for the new owner said the company considers development of the property to be a "longer-term project."
"We will take our time with Porn.com," an MXN representative said. "It does not need to transform overnight. In the meantime, we will keep it parked with PremiumTraffic, a leading domain-name monetization company."
According to MXN, the domain attracts millions of monthly unique visitors and is one of the top organic (derived from type-in traffic) adult entertainment destinations. MXN plans to leverage the existing traffic and generate new traffic by offering a multiplicity of premium products and services in an effort to create the leading adult portal on the Web.
"The possibilities with Porn.com are limitless," an MXN representative said. "To rush its development just to get something brand new 'live' would be foolish. We will carefully evaluate our options before we decide the direction we wish to take it."
