LOS ANGELES - In an email blast to customers Thursday morning, online marketing solutions company Oversee said it had acquired Moniker and its program TrafficClub.
Oversee also is the parent company of SnapNames.
Representatives of all three companies assured customers that "the combination of services and capabilities by Oversee, SnapNames and Moniker bring all customers a menu of services that support needs throughout the life cycle of a domain name, including procurement, monetization and sales."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Moniker representatives said the company was acquired in a "100 percent purchase" from its former parent company, Seevast.
Moniker, which is based in Pompano Beach, Fla., is a leading provider of domain asset management services and is known for its auctions of domain names at events like Targeted Traffic and Internext.
Oversee has two primary divisions: Oversee Domain Services and Oversee Marketing Services. In June 2007, Oversee acquired SnapNames, which is considered one of the largest online auction houses for expired and deleting domain names.
Monte Cahn, president and co-founder of Moniker, said the company will remain in Florida and he will continue to lead operations. He said he also will take an advisory role within the overall company to help integrate the services of Moniker, Oversee and SnapNames.
"This is not a takeover," he said. "This is more a joining of industry leaders.
"It was a combination of the companies looking for a more synergistic fit. We are each a leader in our individual fields ... and we will be able to integrate a lot of services and expand our organization."
Officials from Oversee were not immediately available for comment.
Oversee also owns DomainSponsor.com, one of the largest domain-parking sites, and sponsors the Domain Fest Global conferences held several times each year throughout the world.
Domain Fest Global has competed with Target Traffic events, but representatives of Oversee and Moniker said all of the companies will work to benefit buyers and sellers at both events.
With the companies joining forces, Cahn said, it "will be a one-stop shop for domain asset management services."
Moniker will still handle the live and online silent auction at Internext, the annual AVN Online event to be held Jan. 13-15 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The online silent auction will feature 2,000 domain names, and the live auction will feature more than 200. The auctions are set for 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.
