To help immerse newcomers in the language and expectations within the adult online industry, YNOT Bob and AVN Online Editor at Large Kathee Brewer on Monday hosted a two-hour “Newbies Workshop,” covering topics that new webmasters and affiliates should know in order to succeed in the adult Web. YNOT Bob and Brewer offered a bevy of tips learned from years of experience in the industry, giving Internext attendees the nuts and bolts of starting an online adult company.
In stressing the importance of knowing basic terminology, both presenters said it is essential to get down the proper jargon associated with online adult business. Knowing a definition to technical terms can help when choosing programmers or hosts for websites. Plus, being familiar with terms used in the adult industry will help webmasters understand what users seek and, better yet, what they will pay for, they noted. “If you don’t understand it, figure it out,” YNOT Bob said, adding that neophyte webmasters and affiliates will be saved time and money if they develop clear understanding of adult Internet-related language.
The workshop also included a basic roadmap for prospective webmasters and affiliates, providing a path for reaching goals. While YNOT Bob and Brewer were not able to answer all the questions about starting—and successfully running—an adult online business, they did give participants a better indication of what to expect...and what to ask at next year’s expo.
