SOUTH AFRICA—Porn Satellite Television (PSat), South Africa’s first 24/7 hardcore adult television channel, will launch this January. The channel will be broadcast on the Astra 4A satellite, which is also utilized by the mainstream channel, TopTV.
As a separate service, PSat subscribers will have to pony up R99 a month for special equipment needed to access the channel.
"PSat is totally independent of other satellite channels and you will need a special decoder, smartcard and a satellite dish to view the channel," said John Solomon of African Satellite Installations (ASI). "All you have to do is unplug your TopTV decoder and replace it with the PSat decoder."
According to iAfrica.com, PSat originated in France and is broadcast from outside of South Africa. Solomon told Rapport. ASI said it has ordered 5000 decoders in preparation for the South African launch.
