ANDOVER, Mass. - NaviSite, a provider of application management, Internet infrastructure and hosting services, has acquired the privately held hosting company Jupiter Hosting.
According to Rathin Sindha, NaviSite's chief marketing officer, having acquired Jupiter Hosting will help NaviSite better support the growing number of companies utilizing Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), video on demand (VOD) and progressive video delivery.
"NaviSite will largely benefit by adding the managed-hosting capabilities and enterprise-class data center by Jupiter Hosting, as well as further augmenting its application-development capabilities with those of the Jupiter Hosting team," he said.
Sindha said the acquisition fit NaviSite's growth strategy.
"Our goal as a company is definitely to continue growing through organic growth and further acquisitions as appropriate," he said. "NaviSite serves many vertical markets, so the adult market focus of Jupiter Hosting was not a particular consideration, other than [that] this market requires a sophisticated technology-solutions provider who can support high bandwidth and performance needs."
Sindha said there will be "no immediate change" for Jupiter Hosting's customers as the company's services are "integrated into the NaviSite brand."
NaviSite also acquired Alabanza in the $15.5 million deal.
